Welcome to Active Human’s 12th newsletter.
As you know we are learning about the root causes behind our lifestyle diseases.
5 major root causes behind the most common chronic and lifestyle diseases are:
Bad Gut health (Leaky Gut and Dysbiosis)
Insulins Resistance
Inflammation
Oxidative stress
Oversensitive Nervous system (Stress and Anxiety)
Most of the time they coexist or get interlinked or by the time you know about them, one builds another. But the good thing is they are the measurable root causes that can be corrected. Advanced blood tests help a lot these days.
We have already covered Gut health and Insulin resistance in our previous newsletters.
Today, I want to deep dive into Inflammation as a root cause.
There are two kinds of Inflammation: Acute Inflammation and Chronic Inflammation. You need acute inflammation when you get wounds and brushes, and then you get swelling, and itching. Swelling is acute inflammation which means your body is fighting and macrophages are doing its job. The problem is when you have chronic inflammation inside your body which causes internal damage and is known to cause heart attacks, kidney issues, liver issues, and even mental health issues and some kinds of cancers.
There are some known reasons why we develop chronic inflammation. A few top of the charts are:
Food intolerances: Dairy, Gluten, Seed oils, Peanut sensitivity, etc. cause inflammation in the body.
Processed food with refined sugar, binders, artificial sweeteners, preservatives, and cheap oils increases inflammation in our bodies. Regular use builds up chronic inflammation.
Smoking and environmental pollution like pesticides in our food cause inflammation.
Parasites like Giardia, Viral pathogens like Norovirus GI/II, and bad Gut bacteria like Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Citrobacter freundii if present in our gut are known to cause chronic inflammation.
Fungus like Candida spp. and Microsporidium spp. are known to cause inflammation.
Obesity and Insulin resistance increase cytokines in the body which cause inflammation.
Heavy Metal Toxicity causes chronic inflammation.
Prolonged usage of drugs like Antibiotics, NSAIDs, Antacids, Hormonal drugs, and steroids develops Chronic Inflammation.
So, how do you check if you have chronic inflammation?
Skin issues like acne, psoriasis, and eczema are signs of inflammation in the body
Blood markers like WBC, Hs-CRP, ESR, and Ferritin levels tell us if there is inflammation going on.
Mental health issues like brain fog, anxiety, and depression often direct us towards inflammation in the body.
Silent infections like EBV etc. cause chronic inflammation.
Energy levels can hint towards chronic inflammation.
Continuous mild Joint and muscle pain is also a sign of chronic inflammation.
Most Auto-immune diseases are due to prolonged inflammation in the body.
There are some simple proven hacks to keep chronic inflammation low:
Food: Remove foods that cause you intolerances like bloating, digestive issues, and stomach tightness. In general, reduce processed food and seed oils (high in omega 6 and low in omega 3). (Elimination diet can help you figure out your inflammatory food items).
Reduce artificial sweeteners and highly refined sugar food items and alcohol items.
Reduce your exposure to environmental toxins like smoke, and pollution. N95 mask works, use it.
Reduce obesity and insulin resistance.
If there is an autoimmunity, work on it to reduce it (Active Human Healers can help here).
Reduce stress using deep breathing and increase anti-oxidant foods like citrus fruits and vegetables.
Work on your gut and figure out if there are microorganisms that are giving you inflammation.
Check for blood parameters and work on your root cause to reduce your inflammation.
Hope the above helps and now you see the root causes from a different lens.
At Active Human, we have started “Reverse Your Chronic Disease (RYCD) Module where we take a scientific approach to arrive at your root cause using blood report analysis (advance tests) and then set protocols to reduce and cure your root cause. It is a process and not a quick fix and it takes 3-6 months to understand and work on the root cause and start seeing results. If you know someone who has any kind of lifestyle disease, please help me spread the word and help them reach out to me at manishkbhagwani@gmail.com. We are a team of healers who follow a functional medicine and targeted nutrition approach.
